soft heart mist

A little reminder that home is in your heart.

Gorgeously fragrant wild rose petal and cottonwood bud hydrosols are lovingly distilled in small batches in my hometown of Bellingham, WA, by Wildroot Botanicals. The scent of cottonwood buds is an early sign of spring in the Pacific Northwest, sticky, resinous, full of life. And then in early summer, the wild roses, my namesake. The blend is finished by a touch of gulab mukhallat attar, a precious co-distillation of rose and sandalwood still made using centuries-old traditional methods in the city of Kannauj, India. And of course, a little cardamom.

My love of roses comes from my name, of course, and my love of cardamom comes from (of all places) my cherished time in a Swedish pastry kitchen during my formative years in New York. The way these two scents dance together has become a signature of my work, both comforting and uplifting. Timeless. Flowers and spice, forever.
